Icefishing on Devils Lake

Things You Must Bring:

Winter Clothing: You will be comfortable in our portable huts but you will still be outside when we are moving and resetting huts. It is a must to bring along with you the following: warm boots, hat, gloves, coveralls or snowsuit, jacket, etc.

Miscellaneous: Fillet knives - electric recommended, extension cord, freezer bags, towel, scalars, coolers, depth finder, sinkers and sunglasses. Camera and film.

All fishing equipment is included.

Devils Lake Walleye

If you do bring your own equipment, these are the items you may consider:

Tackle for Perch: 4 pound test line, Panfish jigs, #8 Genz worms, Fatboys, and Pounders made by Systems Tackle. Rat Finkies, Shrimpos, Cobra Heads, slip bobbers, 1/12th oz. Castmasters, small Swedish pimples, #2 jigging Rapalas. Hint: Bring your hanger rigs or pencil weights to get the small tackle down in a hurry.

Tackle for Walleyes: 6 pound test line, Blade baits like Heddon Sonars or Blitz Bullets, #3 or #4 Jigging Rapalas (chrome and blue, fire tiger, and chartreuse), Walleye Flyers, Nilsmaster jigger shads, Ivan Glow Slammers, Bad Dog lures - Humpbacks.

Tackle for Pike: For tip-up fishing make sure you have some good heavy tip-up line. We mainly use smelt so you should bring some hardware that is compatible for smelt. The largest Walleye Flyers dressed with plastics like double twister tails can be a deadly combination for jigging. Don't forget leaders!
